Perplexity

Perplexity is an AI search and answer tool. You ask a question, it searches the web, and it writes an answer with numbered citations that link to the pages it used. You can also paste a link or upload a file and ask it to summarize or answer questions about that one source.

There is a free tier and a paid plan with more powerful models and higher limits, plus apps for phones and desktop and a browser extension for asking about the page you are on.

Things to check: open the cited pages before relying on a claim, because a summary can drop a caveat or mix up two sources. For research, ask the same question twice in different words and compare the answers and sources. Perplexity also makes its own browser, which we list once we have confirmed details.
